Internet Explorer connection and proxy settings:

The connection settings in Internet Explorer should not default to a dial-up or other type of connection. Also, proxy servers are not needed so they should be disabled.

  1. Within Internet Explorer (IE), click on the Tools menu, then select Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Connections tab. If you have any dial-up connections configured, make sure that “Never dial a connection” is selected.
  3. Click on the LAN Settings button. All of these checkboxes should be unchecked. This will disable any proxy servers that have been configured.
