The connection settings in Internet Explorer should not default to a dial-up or other type of connection. Also, proxy servers are not needed so they should be disabled.
- Within Internet Explorer (IE), click on the Tools menu, then select Internet Options.

- Click on the Connections tab. If you have any dial-up connections configured, make sure that “Never dial a connection” is selected.
- Click on the LAN Settings button. All of these checkboxes should be unchecked. This will disable any proxy servers that have been configured.
