Looking up student addresses by their current classes
January 4, 2007 3:08 pm | Author: Stephen McMillin | Filed Under Email-Faculty and Staff |To search for student email addresses, you first need to follow the instructions here.
This document will give you instructions on searching for students by their current classes. The department field in the LDAP address book holds the abbreviated names of academic departments. These departments represent the types of classes a student is currently enrolled in.
1. Starting at step # 5 from this document, we have to modify the available search fields. You first need to uncheck the cn (Display Name) box and select ou (Department) instead. Click OK to make the change.
2. Now when a search is performed, the Department is available as a search option. To start narrowing my search, I have performed a search for students with a last name of “testing”.
3. Next I have specified a department of “C ED” (Continuing Education) to find students with a last name of “testing.” To do this I had to change the condition for department from >= (begins with) to = (is.) Also remember that Department represents the type of classes that the student is enrolled, not the student’s major code.
