How to remove attachments from your mail to save space in GroupWise
January 4, 2007 3:50 pm | Author: Stephen McMillin | Filed Under Email-Faculty and Staff |

The instructions on this page will help you to save important emails while removing unimportant attachments from them.

1. Using the free utility, GWStrip, you can remove the attachments from an email without affecting the rest of the message. Download the utility from here. Close the GroupWise application including any message windows you have open. Save the file to your hard drive, extract the files, and run the setup.exe. If you are not comfortable installing your own software, then please call the Help Desk (4444) to request assistance.

2. Once the application is installed, you can restart GroupWise. You will notice a new button at the top of the window, ‘Strip Attachment’.

3. Select an email that you want to remove the attachments from, and click on the Strip Attachment button. Wait a few seconds, and you will notice the email has changed. The attachment icon (paperclip) is gone and the words “(copy)” have been appended to the subject.

4. When you open this email, you will notice that the message itself has not changed except the appended text stating the names of the attachments that were removed from the original email.

5. The original email is moved into the Trash so you have one last chance to view or save those attachments before emptying the Trash. Please empty your Trash folder on a daily basis.
